Winner of the Félix Instrumental Album of the Year at the 2004 ADISQ gala with their recording Nota del Sol and nominated for Classical Album of the Year 2006 (ADISQ) for the album Fantasia released on the Analekta label, Similia stands out for the finesse and musicality of her performances. Updating the repertoire for flute and guitar through their interpretations and arrangements, the duo gives a new and explosive dimension to musical pieces that have crossed time and cultures, while affirming their taste for today's works. Similia offers a special place to current composers whose melodic lines feed the complicit dialogue he has established with the public.
Uniting twins Nadia (flute) and Annie Labrie (guitar), this aptly named duo was born in 1998. The two musicians began their musical studies at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec in Rimouski, where they graduated with great honors. After obtaining a master's degree at the Université de Montréal, flutist Nadia Labrie continued her development with great masters in her discipline, including Patrick Gallois, Geneviève Amar and Emmanuel Pahud. She has been a soloist with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Estuary Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra with whom she has toured America, Europe and Asia, with renowned soloists including Anne-Sophie Mutter and James Ehnes, under the direction of great conductors such as Kurt Masur, Yoav Talmi and Franz-Paul Decker. She received a grant from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the FCAR and the Governor General's Medal for excellence in her college studies.
